Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution drivers packed out the Group N points positions at the finish of the fourth round of this year's FIA World Rally Championship in Spain today. Sweden's Hans-Erik Weng and co-driver Anders Fredriksson finished as top Mitsubishi on Rally Catalunya, clinching a career-best second overall in the Production Class.

After seeing some concept pictures of the new Lancer Evolution X some details are known for the new EVO.

Changes involve improvements to the existing Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC), also Active Brake Control (ABC) and the Active Yaw Control (AYC) have been revised to ensure an even better handling.
These innovations make less inputs are needed to control the car.
The steering remains quite the same so you still have that excellent natural feeling when turning the steering wheel.
Even more, the EVO still remains a full drivers car, the added and improved Hi-tech systems won't disturb the drivers pleasure.
Possibly there will be an option to order a six-speed automated manual transmission with paddlesshifters, but it's still unsure if the European importers will offer this option.
The interior will be quite an improvement on the rather spartan interior of current EVO's. Materials used will be higher quality and there will be more equipment like an onboard multimedia system. This system will also be able to tell you real-rime information on the status of the hi-tech systems like S-AWC, AYC and ABC.
The new EVO X is expected to hit the showrooms first half 2008.
